At Dogs4Diabetics, it is the people who make a difference. Dogs for Diabetics (D4D) enjoys the support of many dedicated people who make our mission and program possible. Without their daily efforts, our program would not exist and our dogs would not be providing life-saving support to their diabetic companions. D4D has developed a supportive community of people helping one another to address the life-threatening effects of diabetes using the skills of our great dogs.
D4D’s clients tell the difference that these dogs make in their lives. Their predominant theme is the improvement of their confidence in managing their insulin therapy, through avoiding the complications that come from frequent and severe bouts of hypoglycemia. Coupled with that is an increased enjoyment in life, reduced depression, as well improvements in their diabetes metrics, and overall improved physical and emotional health.
This is an organization staffed primarily by volunteers. We honor the efforts of our volunteers with their own stories about their dedicated service to D4D.
D4D’s daily operations are carried out by its Executive Director and operating staff. Each person involved in managing D4D’s operations has significant experience in their area of responsibility, from client selection to dog training to finance.
D4D is guided by its Board of Directors who oversees the corporation and provides guidance for its overall operation and strategic direction. The board is a diverse group with experience in business, accounting, legal, health care, as well as science and dog training. All have significant experience with and personal interests in diabetes.
