Guide Dogs for the Blind
Dogs for Diabetics, Inc. (D4D) has enjoyed the support of Guide Dogs for the Blind (GDB) since our founder Mark Ruefenacht’s initial discovery of the potential that dogs had to help people with diabetes. GDB provided Armstrong to test the concept that a dog could be trained to identify the onset of hypoglycemia.
GDB has been the primary source of D4D’s dogs and it has been the model of a quality non-profit to which D4D aspires to become. GDB has a strong affinity for the work of D4D, as many of their clients suffer from diabetes, the leading cause of blindness in the United States. Their support now provides a means to help people avoid the debilitating complications that can ensue from diabetes.
