Herman has brought a level of security into my life that I never thought I would ever have again and has become my best friend in the process. Herman is the best thing that has ever happened to me. He helps me with my day-to-day diabetes management. Herman has helped me keep better control of my blood sugar levels and has helped me to lower my A1C numbers since we have been together.
Whether I’m at school, at home, or out with my family, he is always on duty… ready to let me know if my blood sugar is going low. This allows me to keep tighter control of my blood sugar levels, which enables me to do the fun things in my life like skateboarding and basketball. When Herman is having some time off to play, he loves to have fun in the snow in Lake Tahoe.
One of my fondest memories with Herman was the first time he alerted me that my blood sugar level was low. It is hard to comprehend what these dogs are capable of, but it is an indescribable feeling when a dog actually alerts on you. Herman always provides me with unconditional love and friendship and I will be forever grateful to him for that.
The people at Dogs4Diabetics have shown me that there are great people in the world. From volunteers, to trainers, to the person who started it all, Mark, they have changed the quality of my life. Dogs4Diabetics has let me see that these dogs really do save lives. On good days and bad days Herman brings joy to my life.
